Hollywood, Fl-Borrowing an expression from celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, The Heavyweight Factory just “kicked it up a notch,” matching two former world champions on their June 4th card at The Seminole Hard Rock Live. Fellow Jamaican cruiserweights O’Neil “Give ‘Em Hell” Bell (26-3-1, 24 KOs) and Richard “The Destroyer” Hall (29-8, 27 KOs) bring their power-punching assaults to bear in a 10-round undercard bout.
Bell, the 36-year old former WBC/WBA/IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight champ fully expects a knock-down, drag-out war with his countryman and gym-mate. Although Bell recently changed his name to “El Yun El,” his furious fistic attack remains the same crowd-pleasing style that earned him the undisputed cruiserweight crown in 2006.
Hall, the 39-year old southpaw former WBA champion, won two of his last three fights by knockout and anticipates no quarter given or received during the expected slugfest. Fight fans of a gambling persuasion may wager this barn-burner ends within the distance, with the winner poised to crack into the top-15 divisional rankings.
Another island warrior enters the fray as Trinidadian heavyweight Kertson Manswell (20-2, 15 KOs) challenges NABA/IBF Inter-Continental/WBC Latino heavyweight champion Cedric “The Boz” Boswell (34-1, 26 KOs) in the 10-round main event. Manswell recently advanced to the quarterfinals of The International Prizefighter Heavyweight Tournament, losing a unanimous decision to eventual champion Mike Perez in May. The 34-year old Manswell won the silver medal at the 2003 Pan Am Games and scored a unanimous decision victory over former contender Corey Sanders in 2006.
Boswell expects to continue his winning ways since scoring a unanimous decision victory over former world heavyweight champion Oliver “The Atomic Bull” McCall (55-10, 37 KOs) at The Seminole Hard Rock last March. The 41-year old Boswell recently confessed his intention to contend for a world heavyweight title in 2012.
The 10-round co-main event showcases light middleweight Domonique “3D” Dolton (10-0, 7 KOs) from Detroit’s world-famous Kronk Gym against Lithuanian Donatas Bondorevas (12-2-1, 3 KOs). Dolton moves up to middleweight in the bout with hopes of scoring his first-ever career regional belt.
